Today we are going to talk about my favorite social media platforms. We are going to start from my website because the point of social media is that all your social media points to your website. You’ll want your traffic to eventually come to you. Your website is so important because it’s the only thing you own that is on the web. Everything else can be turned off or shut down, but they cannot turn off your website because you do your best to create traffic thru those social media platforms.

    • Remember to put your social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Instagram on your website so that people can get in touch with you on those platforms.

    FACEBOOK

Having a Facebook page is always a must. You can have a personal and a private one. In your Facebook page you’ll have a nice banner with a very catchy picture or title. Your photo section should be all about what you are doing. On my page, Changing Minds Online, we post affirmations so that people will get inspired. Start their day off with something that is going to motivate them because the page is about the customer not about you. You are putting out the information because they need to resonate with the things you are putting out there. People need to see themselves buying the product. Your page needs to be catered to them.

To be able to cater to your audience, you can bring the product to them. For example, Changing Minds Online has their newsletters and they send out their videos on Facebook so the audience can watch it from there. Also, while you’re catering to your audience, you also share it on your other social media accounts.

Your audience may or may not respond to you but always remember that they are always looking for you to pop in and post updates. Whether they are affirmations, stories, inspirational pictures, those kinds of stuff.

Other ways you can connect and bring other people to your community are ads and letters that you can put in different kinds of ways. You can also connect to people by responding to them on their posts to your page. Remember that these people are putting you out there so respond to them as necessary.

Your video section can also be a helpful tool for you to inspire your audience. You can talk about motivational and encouraging things, you can have interviews with different people who are an inspiration to you or your business, you can share anything with your audience. Bringing inspiration to others through others is key for your Facebook.

    TWITTER

What is cool with Twitter is the Lists section. Listing is very important because it will help you clear out your feed. You can subscribe to different lists and then you have a section there to see what you are a member of. If you have a lot of followers and people like your tweets, they can put you in a group so that they can always get your tweets. That way it keeps your social media stream organized. If you want to get the people’s contents that you’re really looking for and other tweets are blocking them, put them in a list so that you don’t have to worry about missing anybody’s content.

People usually don’t pay attention to the Favorite button because they usually retweet what they like. What they don’t know is that favorites stay and you get to keep them and then check back later to read them again. If somebody tweeted a link but you’re at work and you can’t look at that link at the moment, you can favorite the tweet and check on it later.

Then of course there is the Following and Followers list. You can follow people who’s been following you and you can also check out the settings button and see all the different things that you want to do. You can tweet the person, send a direct message, add or remove them from your list, mute them, block them, report them, you can also turn off their retweets.

People on Twitter often ignore their Direct Messages because of scams. If you use your direct messages properly and actually connect and engage with people without scamming, then people will actually answer you back.

    • Remember if you send a direct message to someone and you want them to check it, definitely tweet the person saying “Check your DM” and they’ll know that you’re not scamming them and you’re trying to connect with them.

    PINTEREST

Now if you want people to pin your board on Pinterest and you want to get noticed, your titles need to be catchy. Especially on your personal block; like what I put in my title “As Seen On..” This board shows my interviews, personal info, things posted on my website and other information about me. You can also put fun stuff in there like “All Blue Everything!” where she posted different kinds of stuff that is colored blue because it is my favorite color. Labeling your boards is a great way for people to find them. People also find them if you tagged the board, if you put hashtags on them and @ mentions. So all of these different things help put your boards out there. Another tip is to invite people to pin your board. Once the person pinned to your board, it automatically gets in their board and people who are following that person can pin your board as well. So make a separate board for everything you do. You can also put videos on Pinterest.

    INSTAGRAM

If you are a visual person, Instagram is for you. People love visuals especially if you hold a product. You want to put all your products out there so that people can see what is going on with what you’re doing and what you’re selling.

Instagram has a limit with active links on photos. Whenever you put a link in a description of a photo, it will not activate. On the other hand, you can put a link in your bio because it will be the only link that is going to be active. So if you have a website, make sure it’s right there. Make sure to let your followers know that your link is in the bio.

Hashtags are a very effective in Instagram. For every post, you get 30 hashtags and you can mix it up. Hashtags that relate to your posts can get you likes and followers. You can also have your personal hashtag and if you click your hashtag, you can see your hub on Instagram.

    GOOGLE+

Google+ is super hot for two things:

    1. Hangouts
    2. Getting your information into the search enginge.

In your Google+ profile, you can have your tag line, what you’re doing and you can put your bragging rights in there. You can also see the people in your circles and people who have you in their circles. You can build a community, put your education, basic information, places you’ve lived in, and of course your social media handles.

In the Posts section you can basically put your photos, links, videos, events and event create a poll. You can post different things about you or your business and of course you can also share other people’s posts. Now what’s great about sharing posts on Google+ is that whenever someones shares it, it goes to their feed and it boosts your Google rankings.

So now the logo with the quotation mark on the right side of the screen is your Google Hangouts section. This is basically your messaging section. You can also start a video hangout. If you want to do a webinar, you can use Hangouts on Air. But if you want to do a regular video Hangout, then you do just regular Hangout.

    LINKEDIN

LinkedIn is a business channel or basically the business Facebook. You can post and put your information out there, you can connect with people, you can send your likes out, you can also see who’s been following and viewing your posts. You also can see all your different articles and how you rank.

When you connect to a group on LinkedIn, you can put different topics to talk about. You can also join in on the topics that other people talk about and put in your comments on these things. These people have the same interests as you so why not engage with them and put your information out there and see if it gets any hits. Collaborate and get that information out.

I would love the hear about your favorite social media platforms! Let me know what else you would like to see on the blog!

People nowadays use their phones on a daily basis. People who travel a lot make their phones accessible to what they need to do especially their work or businesses. Most individuals have apps they cannot live without. Here are some of Dr. Aikyna’s favorites:

    DROPBOX / DROPVOX

Dropbox is basically where you can keep all your files in one area. You can also sync your emails to your Dropbox as well. What is also cool about Dropbox is not only does it function like that, but it also has a voice system called DropVox. DropVox is for voice system so you can take voice memos. It also has an email section which links with your Google account. So If you want to remember something, if you want to do different types if information, or even if you want to create a 25-minute audio, you can do so and save it right into your Dropbox. You can also sync your pictures to your Dropbox with Carousel. It’s basically a whole productivity system.

    EVERNOTE

You use this when you have a lot of business cards, when you are doing blog posts, or when you have different files you want to keep – you can definitely connect all of those files there. When you’re networking, there’s a possibility that you will get business cards from your networks. Now instead of keeping all those cards, you can just scan them in Evernote and then connect those people to your LinkedIn account and send them connections to LinkedIn. Instead of keeping their business cards, you can keep them all nice and neat in your contacts page. When you are travelling and need to submit a paper or a blog, you can send it through email directly to them right from Evernote because you have it connected to your email.

    POMODORO

What Pomodoro does is that it’s a time keeper. Let’s say you are the kind of person who likes to procrastinate a lot. You can set it up, input the tasks there and then break them up into time sections so that you can manage your time. You can use this if you need something to keep you on track with doing your work on time. It can tell you when you need a break, it can tell you when your break is over, and it can tell you when you finished your work. If you are one of those people who get distracted easily, then this is a great app for you.

    SUNRISE

If you want to get your calendar straight, you can use Sunrise. Sunrise will connect to your calendars from your different social media accounts or emails. Once it connects to your calendars, it will put up a whole calendar chart. Your business schedules, plans with family, appointments, all of those things will all be in one spot and it will just notify you when it needs to. It is a very powerful scheduler. Sometimes we overbook ourselves, but with Sunrise we can put them all together in one spot and we avoid getting overbooked.

    COZI

Cozi is where you can put all your family events and it also links to your computer and to your phones. With this app, your family can access the calendar and they can add what they are doing too – that way you can get information from everybody in the family and know exactly what everybody’s doing and you will never be off track.

    MEDITATION MOMENTS

It is a meditation app that actually gives you the music and the mantras. A lot of us don’t have down time as most of us just work and work until we get exhausted. Now we can schedule our self-care right from our phones. After we’ve been so productive we need a way to have time for ourselves. This app can let you decompress and get some self-care right from your phone.

    SLACK

Slack is a new email messaging tool for teams. Basically if you are a member of various teams, like direct marketing teams or if you have a business team, then you can all be on Slack and do direct messaging to each other. With Slack, you see what the other person is doing and what their working on and that way all your records of all the teamwork that’s happening is right there. You can work this app through your phone or your computer so you never miss any notifications from your team. You can set up a whole group or you can set up multiple groups. It is a great project management tool.

I would love the hear about the apps that you can’t live without! Also, lookout for the second part of this blog post coming soon!
